The EUR/GBP Forex Pair - Why It's Perfect For Day Traders

When I first started trading the forex markets I mainly stuck to the EUR/USD, GBP/USD and USD/JPY pairs. However I soon discovered the EUR/GBP pair and quickly came to the conclusion that this is one of the easiest pairs to trade, particularly from a day trading point of view. The reason why I say that is simply because it's very predictable.

When you start watching the EUR/GBP pair on a daily basis you will soon discover that it will often move towards pivot points and key support and resistance levels before reversing in the opposite direction, which makes it fairly easy to trade.

Due to the fact that it isn't very volatile (the average daily range as documented here is around 80 points) you know that if it moves significantly more than usual, it is highly likely to reverse at some point, particularly if it reaches a major support or resistance level.

The Stock Market:

The stock market is one of the more traditional ways to create a profit from an investment. The stock market can produce double digit profits compared to the return from bonds, but it is not the easiest market to take part in. Trying to achieve 20% to 30% gains in short periods of time creates a lot of risk as well as uncertainty. The investor would have to perform vast amounts of research, which would still not be a guarantee.

One of the main advantages of the stock market is that a person with little knowledge about it can still make a profit. For example, knowing that blue chip stocks don't loose value, would allow the person to invest in it and still create a profit. Another added advantage of the stock market is that it is good for long term investing. Investment trusts and unit trusts are the most popular long term investments.

The differences between the stock market and FX market are significant. The advantages and disadvantage of the stock market and the forex market have been explained. Choosing which one to participate in is up to the trader. It depends on their wants and needs, and the amount of time they wish to invest into trading.

What Is A Stock?

A stock certificate is a piece of paper declaring that you own a piece of the company. Companies sell stock to finance expansion, hire people, advertise, etc. In general, the sale of stock help companies grow. The people who buy the stock share in the profits or losses of the company.

Trading of stock is generally driven by short term speculation about the company operations, products, services, etc. It is this speculation that influences an investor's decision to buy or sell and what prices are attractive.

The company raises money through the primary market. This is the Initial Public Offering (IPO). Thereafter the stock is traded in the secondary market (what we call the stock market) when individual investors or traders buy and sell the shares to each other. The company is not involved in any profit or loss from this secondary market.
